This type of fastener is the ideal money saving fastener for OEMs! Avdel® Nutserts® and Other Branded Rivet Nuts are Commonly used by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in these Industries: Once installed, a Nutsert® offers strong threads to reliably join thin-walled workpieces. When materials such as sheet metal, tubular structures and plastics are too thin to tap (typically less than 1/2 inch thick), a Nutsert® provides a thread for the parent material. The installation occurs “blindly”, meaning no access to the backside of the parent material is required. To install, a hand or power tool engages the threads of the threaded insert fastener and exerts a pull, causing the internally threaded shank to compress and expand tightly against the parent material being fastened – commonly called “upsetting the fastener”. An added benefit is no damage is done to the parent material once installed (as can be the case with alternative fasteners, such as thermal damage caused by weld nuts). In 2012, the Avdel® Nutsert® product line was acquired by Stanley® Engineered Fastening.Īn Avdel® Nutsert® is a one-piece blind fastener that provides a nut plate to attached a secondary material with a threaded bolt and requires no post-install finishing.
